Unbelievable: Kanzelschwalbe celebrates its first birthday today.
Thank you to all frequent and less-frequent readers for your comments, feedback, questions and encouragement.

Tonight-while I was asleep the 1000th visitor came to this website this month. Let´s make it clear again – 1000 hits this month.
That´s a new record!
Thanks to you all for reading and leaving comments.

There will be three stars on the sky in a couple of minutes which means Erev Pessach is about to start.

To all my jewish readers a very happy and blessed Passover!

To all my christian readers blessed holy days which will lay ahead of us.

There is a wedding-fair in my town this weekend.

The idea behind is quite easy: Various businesses which are involved with a wedding present themselves and offer their special wedding packages. Such as hairdressers, restaurants, gown-shops and fashion shows, car-rentals and and and.

And there is also an ecumenical stall where the RC and Lutheran churches present themselves, answer questions, provide information and also a cup of coffee.

I was there this afternoon, too. Its not a big trade-fair. Rather small and pretty familiar.
We had quite a lot of fun, some good talks and „the church“ was well recieved.

There was also enough time to have a look around and the opportunity to get yourself a professional (bridal) hairdressing.

Well- I´m not a bride but I love hair-ups for my long, curly brown hair. But its so hard to make it youself.
So I asked if I could get a classical hairdo.
It took them only 10 minutes. Now I got my „banana“ as we call it. The young hairdresser´s apprentice didn´t know at first what I really wanted. But she learned it from a colleague.
Its really great. Got quite some compliments for it. One of the general managers even said: „Wow- the classy look really suits you. You should wear it more often.“

Unfortunately I couldn´t take a photograph myself.
But this gives you an idea what it looks like:

But I went to a parish appointment afterwards. They all knew about the fair and „wow-ed“ my „bridal hairdo“.

I should really practice to do it myself. I usually see it on movies only. But it is really an elegant yet professional look
I even don´t want to go to bed as I like it so much. Well with the amount of hairspray they used for it I could probably sleep with it easily anyway.

Good night- in whatever shape your hairdo might be.

So, Ihr Lieben,

To all regular and frequent readers of this blog my best wishes for 2009!
I´d be more than happy if you come along every now and then.

Gebet am Altjahrsabend

Wir schauen zurück

auf das Jahr, das vergangen ist,

Gott unseres Lebens.

Merry Christmas to all readers!!!

For unto us a child is born…

I admit it- I love The Simpsons.

Usually I am not a big cartoon-fan. Particularly not on TV. But The Simpsons are simply different.
Completely.

I started watching it four years ago in New Zealand. Tony, my flatmate and I watched The Simpsons sitting togehter on the Sofa taking turns in hugging Bailey, the cat. It became a sort of an almost daily ritual.

Luckily enough we have The Simpsons in Germany too. Unfortunately not in English but with German syncronisation. This takes a lot off it. But at least we have them.

What I really love about The Simpson is the fact they pull almost everyone´s and everything´s leg and mirror US-American society. Or at least what I think is US-American society as I have never been there. But I feel quite at home at Springfield.

The episode „The Father, the Son and the Holy Guest Star which was aired today showed it quite clearly. It dealt with religion and was a kind of modern adaptation of Lessing´s Ringparabel as Bart was asking people to pay attention on what all religions and denominations have in common instead of feuding each other.

I simply needed some rest the last couple of days.

Like my little monsters.

Where are the degus? ;-)

I´ll take it slowly but I´ll be back soon.
