Wenn die Muse zu spät küsst

Am Sonntag ist Konfirmation.

In den vergangenen Jahren habe ich für meine KonfirmandInnen immer, quasi als Überraschung, ein Lied „komponiert“, das zum Thema passte und das dann im Konfirmationsgottesdienst gesungen wurde.

Diese Jahr hatte ich so gar keine Idee. Die Muse küsste mich nicht.
So machten meine Sekretärin und ich heute auch das Liedblatt fertig.
Ohne „Überraschung“.

Doch eben kam mir so eine Melodie in den Sinn.
Ich klimperte sie vor mich hin- holte Notenpapier. Nur noch ein ganz kleines Restchen. Muss dringend ein neues Heft kaufen. Ich kann das nicht gleich am Computer setzen. Ich brauche Papier und Bleistift.
Und ich brauche Zeit zum Schreiben. Das geht nicht auf Abruf.
Textzeilen kommen mir in den Sinn. Melodiefetzen.
Das könnte einen Refrain ergeben.
Nur die Strophen fehlen noch. Vielleicht kommen sie ja noch.
Aber es ist zu spät, die Muse küsste mich zu spät. Zumindest für diese Konfirmation.

Ich werde es trotzdem aufschreiben, mit meinem Notenprogramm setzen- mal sehen, vielleicht kann ich´s ja nochmal brauchen. Irgendwann.

Aber irgendwie ist es schon doof, wenn die besten Einfälle dann kommen, wenn´s zu spät ist.

 

Tell me why I don´t like Mondays

Mondays are clergy day-offs. In theory.

My Monday brings a funeral this afternoon in cold and wet weather.
And I am already pretty sick- caught a nasty cold.
I even decided not to go horseriding yesterday and today because hanging round in a cold and windy stable is probably not the best idea if you feel already pretty rotten.

So I thought I could at least treat myself with a sleep-in.
But the telephone rang at 8.30 for the first time.

I don´t like Mondays.

Organ-Medley

While preparing my two services for tomorrow (in fact today!) I was browsing the internet every now and then (of course NOT to pinch a sermon but for some breaks).

On Youtube I found this video

The guy plays a medley from Purcell´s well known trumpet tune and the hymn „lift high the cross“.

I got to know the latter here and really loved it. It was sung as the processional hymn.

I really like the way the guy puts the two pieces of music together. I in fact love organ medleys as they are a very creative (and also skilled) way of combining various styles of music.
Organ improvisation is for good reason an art.

I wish I could play the organ only half as well as the guy does.
I´d better go practising more often
